Saw a Leather Jacket Online? How to Find It, Check It, or Have One Made
By LeatherJacket.pk team · Published · All buyer guides
You see a leather jacket in a film, on social media or on someone in the street, take a screenshot, and then the hard part starts: what is it called, who sells it, and is the one you find actually the same jacket? Searching "find this jacket online" rarely helps on its own.
This guide walks through a simple method: search by image, name the style so you can search by words, check any listing you find before you pay, and, if the jacket is sold out, the wrong size or not quite what you want, have a similar jacket made to order.
The short answer: crop your photo to the jacket and run a reverse image search, then name the style (biker, bomber, racer, trucker, aviator) and search with the style, leather, colour and key details. Check any listing for the leather, sizing and returns before you pay. If you cannot find it, or want it in your own size or leather, send the photos to a jacket maker and ask for a similar jacket made without any other brand's logos.
Step 1: search by image
Reverse image search tools such as Google Lens or Bing Visual Search compare your photo with images across the web and show similar products. A few habits make them work far better:
- Crop the image to the jacket only, so the search does not match the face, background or other clothes.
- Use the clearest, largest version of the photo you can find. Blurry screenshots return blurry matches.
- Try several crops: the whole jacket, then a close-up of the collar or zip, which is often what makes it distinctive.
- If the photo is from a film, series or post, search the title or account with the word "jacket" as well; fans often identify famous jackets.
Image search finds look-alikes as well as the original, so treat each result as a lead, not an answer.
Step 2: name the style
Knowing the style name lets you search by words, compare listings properly and brief a maker clearly. Most leather jackets fall into a handful of families:
| What you see | Style name |
|---|---|
| Off-centre zip, wide lapels with snaps, often a belt | Biker or motorcycle jacket |
| Ribbed collar, cuffs and hem, a relaxed body | Bomber (A-2 or MA-1 style) |
| Short band or snap-tab collar, clean front, slim cut | Café racer |
| Shirt collar, chest pockets, button front | Trucker |
| Wide wool collar, sheepskin body, straps at the throat | Aviator or B-3 style shearling |
| Wool body with leather sleeves, striped rib | Varsity or letterman |
| Tailored lapels and buttons | Leather blazer |
Our custom leather jacket styles describe each family in more detail, and our guide to collars, zips and pockets helps you name the details.
Step 3: search with the right words
Combine the style name with three or four visible details, for example "brown suede trucker jacket shearling collar" or "black lambskin café racer snap collar". Useful words to add:
- Leather and finish: lambskin, cowhide, suede, waxed, distressed, matte, glossy.
- Colour: be specific: cognac, chocolate, oxblood, olive.
- Hardware: silver, antique brass, gunmetal, matte black.
- Details: quilted shoulders, belted waist, zip cuffs, hood, shearling collar.
- Fit: cropped, oversized, slim, longline.
Search shopping results and image results separately; the same words often bring up different shops.
Step 4: check the listing before you buy
When you find a match, slow down before you pay. Many listings reuse photos from other sellers.
- Look for the leather in writing: animal, grain and finish. "Leather look" or "PU" means it is not leather.
- Check the size chart against a jacket that fits you, measured flat, rather than relying on S, M or L.
- Look for clear returns terms, a real business name and contact details.
- Search the product photo itself: if it appears in many shops at very different prices, be careful.

When having it made makes more sense
- The jacket is sold out, vintage or one-off.
- It is not available in your size, or the fit is wrong for your build.
- You want it in a different leather, colour or lining, or with warmer insulation for winter.
- You need several matching jackets, for a group, a team or your own shop.
- The only listings you can find look doubtful.
A made-to-order jacket can be cut to your measurements and built in the leather you choose. Our custom leather jackets page explains how custom orders work, and our comparison of a jacket maker in Pakistan vs a local tailor helps if you are weighing up where to have it made.
What to send a jacket maker
| Send | Why it helps |
|---|---|
| Front, back and side photos, as large as possible | Shows the silhouette, length and panel lines |
| Close-ups of the collar, zips, pockets and cuffs | Details are where photos are most ambiguous |
| A note of what to keep and what to change | Avoids guessing which parts you love |
| Your preferred leather and colour, or "not sure" | The maker can suggest a suitable leather |
| Measurements of a jacket that fits you | Fit matters more than the original's size label |
| How you will wear it, and where you live | Decides lining and leather weight |
Inspired by, not copied
A style such as a biker, bomber or trucker belongs to nobody, so having a jacket made in a familiar style is normal. Logos, trademarks and distinctive brand designs are different. We do not reproduce other brands' logos or designs: we make a jacket in the style you like, with your own details, leather and, if you want, your own branding. If you run a brand, our logo options guide explains how to add yours.
What happens after you send the photos
- The maker comes back with questions about anything the photos do not show, such as lining, pockets inside or the exact length.
- You agree the leather, colour, lining, hardware and measurements in writing.
- Price and timing are confirmed per design on WhatsApp, because each design involves different leather and work.
- You approve a sample or mock-up before the finished jacket is made.

FAQ
How do I find a jacket from a photo?
Crop the photo to the jacket and run a reverse image search such as Google Lens, then search again using the style name, leather, colour and two or three visible details.
What is the jacket with the off-centre zip called?
That is usually a biker or motorcycle jacket. It often has wide snap-down lapels and sometimes a belted waist.
Can I have a jacket made from a photo?
Yes. Send front, back and side photos with close-ups of the details, plus your measurements and any changes. We make jackets to order from photos, sketches or tech packs.
Can you copy a designer jacket exactly, including the logo?
No. We do not reproduce other brands' logos or designs. We can make a jacket in a similar style with your own details, leather and, if you wish, your own branding.
How do I know an online listing is real leather?
Look for the animal, grain and finish in writing, ask for daylight close-ups and a photo of a cut edge, and check the returns terms before you pay.
